Saturdays in the Square was created by a local non-profit org, dedicated to making Saturdays fun downtown! There are free concerts all summer long in our downtown Crazy Woman Square, making Buffalo one of the most vibrant small-town communities in the Spring, Summer and Early Fall seasons!
Have a picnic or do some kayaking at Tie Hack Reservoir! Tie Hack is a great place to cool off and let the kids play too! Tie Hack is also great for fishing, hiking and more. Paid & Maintained camping spots are available, and restrooms are easily-accessible, and available.
George Washington park features the largest free outdoor pool in the US! Also featured are covered areas for picnicking, picnic tables & grills, walking trails and playgrounds for the kids!

Hitting the slopes is a favorite pastime in this area, and people flock from all over to enjoy the incredible powder. The Bighorn Mountain Ski Area offers challenging runs, along with the hospitable Meadowlark Ski Lodge. Bring your own gear or rent equipment at the Lodge. Enjoy 14 different runs, ranging from beginner to intermediate and advanced. After an invigorating day on the slopes, cozy up to the fireplace and enjoy the Lodge’s restaurant and full service bar. With over 300 acres of ski area, and the Lodge’s ability to make snow if needed, there’s no better place for your winter getaway!
Ranked by Sno West Magazine as one of the Top 10 places to snowmobile, the Big Horn Mountains are a paradise for snowmobilers all over the country. The 132 miles of groomed trails means endless acres of pure powder. Annual snowfall totals average 21 feet, which creates a heaven on Earth for cross country skiers and snowshoers. Willow Park and Pole Creek offer miles of groomed trails to explore.

Lake Desmet is large, beautiful lake only 10-15 minutes from Buffalo! At the lake, we have boating, kayaking, canoeing, fishing and much more! In the winter months, Lake Desmet offers excellent ice fishing, and our annual New Year's Day celebration, the Polar Plunge, where locals jump into the ice-cold frozen lake!
Buffalo has some of the best horseback riding available! Ride through the forest, and enjoy the mountain views & the peaks! For quick rides of 1-2 hourse, you have several options (see below).
